Tell me more about the internship.
After you have completed the one required class, you will be assigned an externship site. We have externship sites in approximately four hospitals and many Walgreens stores in the metro Detroit area. You must be willing to drive up to 35 miles, one way, (from Macomb) to complete the externship. Your attendance, class participation, test and homework scores, instructor recommendation and personal preference will all be considered when assigning your externship site. Hospital externships require you to work full-time days. Retail externships allow a more flexible schedule to be completed within 12 weeks. If Walgreens is your externship site, you will be required to interview with the Pharmacy Manager prior to starting your externship.
Will I be guaranteed a job at my internship site?
No. However, you are much more likely to receive a job offer or a letter of reference if you are a stellar intern.
What if I am tardy or absent during my internship?
It is possible to lose your internship if you are tardy or have excessive absences or do not display excellent customer service. It is vital that you arrive on time, in proper uniform and work the full shift you agreed to, offer to help in slow times and show excellent customer service.
